French Club Blog février 2022 : Le thème du mois est... L’amour ! Partagez avec nous une histoire d'amour !

This has certainly been a trying time for students and professors alike, but even through confinement, isolation, and stress, reading and writing has the power to free us. To quote Annie Ernaux, « On vit souvent sans trouver les mots pour comprendre ce qui arrive. L'écriture permet une résurrection, non pas dans l'ordre de la vie, mais dans celui de la vérité. » As such, we are continuing the french club blog and encouraging all (students and professors) to write an entry and/or read those of others. We accept work in any form about any subject, but in case you are struggling to think of what to write, the theme for this month is the current global situation. What are you feeling? How has your life been changed? How have you been coping? Are there any positives that have come out of this? As always email your work to frenchclub.nyu@gmail.com with your name or anonymous, and your work will be featured on nyufrenchclub.com We are not here to critique or correct your work, just sharing the power and beauty of the french language, so please don't hesitate to share your work.
This writing prompts for March will be centered around Women's history month! We’ve provided a few starter prompts but feel free to write about anything that moves you.
As always, we accept non-theme related work at any time throughout the year as well, so don’t hesitate to email your work to frenchclub.nyu@gmail.com and let us know if you’d like to remain anonymous
The French club website is also a great place for a comprehensive view of all French and Francophonie related events taking place in the NYU community, so make sure you check it out at nyufrenchclub.com

The Ciné Club proudly announces its Fall 2019 series!
This semester will be dedicated to Encounters : in the first movie, "Cléo de 5 à 7" by Agnès Varda (September 16), a famous singer's uneasy wandering is Paris is modified by her unexpected encounter with a young man. In "Poulet aux prunes" by Marjane Satrapi & Vincent Paronnaud (October 7), a musician's life is dramatically changed when he meets a mysterious woman, who symbolizes his artistic inspiration as well as his home country (her name is Irâne, or "Iran"). In "L'Auberge espagnole" by Cédric Klapisch (November 4), Xavier, a young French student, has the opportunity to live in Barcelona for one year, where he does not only encounter new people, but a new city, where he experiences a whole new way of life. Finally, "Les Amants du Pont-Neuf" by Leos Carax (December 2) is the outstandingly poetic depiction of an encounter between two characters whose social background is radically different.

Some of us best express ourselves through writing; the French Club wants to recognize and empower those who love to write in French! The written work of students can also be great reading practice material for other's studying French.
We accept any kind work: essays, analysis, poems, diary entries, video essays, even a recording of an in-class play or presentation, anything! We don’t expect them to be in perfect French either (though we may edit some obvious mistakes) and we can keep them anonymous if the writer chooses.
We will also provide monthly themes for those struggling to think of a topic (though any piece of writing can be submitted at any time)
Work can be emailed to us at frenchclub.nyu@gmail.com. The article will then be published on the blog, https://frenchclubnyu.wixsite.com/home
Be brave! We look forward to hearing from you!
